The Artwork Behind the Message – How Pat O’Hare and I Brought the Visuals to Life

When I started preparing the release of If This World Were Mine, I knew it needed more than just a great mix and master — it needed a visual identity that truly captured the heart of the song. This wasn’t just another track. It was a message. A feeling. A hope.

So I turned to Facebook and put the word out. That’s when Pat O’Hare reached out to me. Funny thing — it turned out he had made the cover for an old L-Wiz release of ours back in 2013 on Dank ‘n’ Dirty Dubz. Small world.

Pat said he’d be happy to help, and I told him the concept I had in mind: the world, held with care. We bounced a few ideas around before we landed on something that felt just right — two hands gently cradling a globe. Nothing flashy. Nothing overdesigned. Just something human. Gentle. Real.

That visual — two hands holding the Earth — became a symbol for everything the song represents: empathy, connection, responsibility. Pat also added a subtle paper texture to give it a tactile, organic feel, which I loved.

Once he had the base idea in place, I started experimenting with color variations — soft blues, earthy tones, glowing contrasts. Each version gave the image a different emotional hue. Some felt warm and nostalgic, others more airy and dreamlike. In the end, we chose a space black backdrop for the final artwork. It felt soulful and modern — subtle, but striking.

The final cover says exactly what I wanted it to: this world matters. Let’s take care of it — and each other.

Huge thanks to Pat O’Hare for helping turn a feeling into something visual.

And to you reading this — if this world were yours… how would you hold it?
